Generator Information

How standby generators work

When utility power fails, an automatic transfer switch turns your generator on within seconds—keeping HVAC, refrigeration, sump, and medical devices powered without you lifting a finger.

Sizing basics

  •  Essential circuits vs. whole-home
  • Start-up (surge) vs. running wattage
  • Common sizes in our area: 14–26 kW (single-family); 30–80 kW (larger homes, shops, or multi-structure); 100kW+ (commercial)

Fuel & placement

  •  Natural gas/propane are most common; diesel for select applications
  • Code-compliant clearances, pad options, noise considerations

Installation timeline

 Site visit → written quote → permits → pad & gas/electrical rough-in → set unit → startup & owner walk-through (often 2–4 weeks depending on utility/permit timing)

Maintenance & service

  •  Annual service keeps your warranty healthy and your unit ready
  •  We offer service plans, oil/filter changes, spark plugs, valve checks, and load bank testing
